Under the minimal supervision, designs Pelican digital content, literature, and publications. Assists and directs other designers with creative and production work. Meets with Department representatives at project inception to develop goals/concepts; applies knowledge of typography, design, electronic pre-press, print production and publishing hardware/software. Directs freelance photographers using their own or Pelican’s photographic equipment to execute studio product photography and location work. Provides direction to photography and video producers to facilitate scheduling, selection of locations and props.



  • Conceptualizes and executes marketing design concepts which include advertisements, logos, packaging, etc. using standard industry computer graphics software.
  • Participates and contributes to brainstorm sessions and consistently uses sense of creativity, foresight, and good design judgment in developing and applying marketing programs.
  • Story board ideas for photo shoots or video campaigns.
  • Focus on creative concepts, both images and headlines to support product Unique Selling Proposition. Organize written text in cogent hierarchy, prioritizing USP and other product features.
  • Provides support for presentation, trade show and other marketing needs.
  • Using graphics software program, makes revisions and corrections on existing designs.
  • Creates new marketing campaigns by creatively communicating the brand strategy through copy, image, and design.
  • Delegates to other designers in the studio with production and design work and escalates any issues with respect to quality or on time delivery. 
  • Monitors photographers and producers to execute photo assignments including securing location, models, permits, insurance, releases, and prop requirements.
  • Creates and maintains photography production process to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.
  • Monitor, design or approve assets for Amazon, CaseMate and Pelican Outdoor.
  • Retouches photo(s) or assigns and supervises retouching to add or enhance realism or other desired effect to promote an industry or campaign.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.



  • BA in Graphic Design or 7+ years related experience.
  • Expert understanding of best practices for social, digital, and print.
  • Must understand all phases of production process from output to press.
  • Must have excellent design skills with proficiency on Mac and Adobe Creative Suite and In Design.
  • Must be organized, detailed and deadline oriented.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate concept and design decisions.
  • Must demonstrate familiarity with digital photography, studio lighting and image file management.
  • Ability to learn new software and technical skills to maintain professional proficiency.
  • Must have ability to follow verbal and/or written technical directions and specifications.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Video editing is a plus.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
