Foam CAD Programmer

OVERVIEW

 Review Foam Models and Drawings from Engineering and create detailed assembly method CNC programs addressing Design for Assembly and ensuring efficient utilization of stock materials and assembly practices.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Utilize Solid Edge, Cam Pro software to develop cut files for Water Jet and CNC router equipment while considering design complexity and ensure optimal breakdown of components for cost purposes, clarity of assembly and other critical factors. 
  • Configure and download files to Water Jet, and CNC Router software control; set adjustments, pressure and other vital information according to order and material specifications.
  • Create 3 dimensional exploded views of cushion assemblies from CAM software to aid in the assembly of custom cushions.
  • Takes verbal and or/written instructions and follows blueprints, Bill of Material (BOM) and/or assembly drawings.
  • Break down engineering prints/drawings into components that best utilize stock materials and allow assembly operations to be performed in the most efficient manner. 
  • Work closely with engineering, drafting and estimators to communicate errors or propose changes, which would make work more efficient. 
  • Work with Engineering and Standards Teams on optimal design for manufacturability
  • Provide guidance on routing process and machine times to Standards Team
  • Reads prints and drawings.  Plan for efficient CNC machine selection which should maximize stock usage, build-ups and other related activities necessary for layout of subcomponent and unit construction and assembly for a variety of first time and repeat insert requirements.
  • Responsible for the programming the waterjets and router machinery.
  • Seeks out and recommends updates to tooling and machinery used in the foam process.
  • Actively supports Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:  

Qualifications include:

  • Education:  High School Diploma  or equivalent specific experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in Programming experience with IGEMS, Mastercam, CAM Pro or similar CNC programs
  • Intermediate experience in CAD Designing/Programming and MS Office Suite
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and accurate measuring skills.
  • Must possess very good written, math and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by the Supervisor.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must have knowledge of 3 to 5 axis mills for CNC machine tools

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (if any)

  • Two or more years of experience of Solid Edge, Solid Works or similar 3D modeling programs
  • 2 years of experience with IGEMS, Mastercam, CAM Pro or similar CNC programs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
