Product Manager - Cases (Drones/Camera)

Overview:

Responsible for formulation and implementation of strategic business, product, marketing and sales plans for solutions pertaining to the drone industry. The role will oversee all product categories related to the drones segment across markets and territories. Act as integral part of the product development process, working in concert with new product development, to lay out a product roadmap and marketing strategy for the drone category.  Work closely with sales to coordinate voice-of-customer, promotional programs, advertising support, product launches, and OEM targeting. The primary focus of this role is to identify relevant drone models to support, select key industries to target, build solutions that are meaningful to each segment and build sales and marketing plans to bring those solutions/products to market profitably. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Formulate and recommend strategic plans and objectives for the drones segment
  • Focus on innovative new products and unique solutions, creating families of new products that bring meaningful value to targeted industries and segments using drones.
  • Ensure that the business plan developed meets crucial strategic plan elements including revenue and profitability, while maintaining adherence to budgeted spending parameters.
  • Continually evaluate the timely adjustment of key strategies and products to meet the fast pace of the drone industry and changing requirements (including legal).
  • Utilize planning and market research tools to accomplish ongoing analysis of competitive products, promotional techniques, customer research, marketing, legislation, costing / pricing and distribution model (e-commerce direct).
  •  Be the lead in creating, designing, coordinating and executing a comprehensive strategy and business plan to drive the drone initiative.  
  • Manage and coordinate daily activities of Product Management responsibilities in accomplishing strategic objectives and defined goals.
  • Recommend and execute product modifications and/or improvements based on market research, customer feedback, market knowledge, and sales information.
  • Oversee advertising, promotion, and PR activities for the given markets and products.  Coordinate reporting and appraisal of the results of authorized sales and marketing campaigns and/or special promotions versus planned goals (ROI).
  • Significant interaction with outside customers, coordinated with the VP Sales US, focusing on drone OEMs.
  • Manage drone specific trade shows and/or proper representation at other trade shows, customer presentations, dealer events, etc.
  • Administer pricing programs and policies, including quantity breaks, terms and conditions of sales, MAP, channel pricing, product access. 
  • Formulate product category marketing budgets.  Monitor performance against budget objectives.
  • Actively supports Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Performs special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Director Product Management

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Degree in Marketing or related field, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in management role in drone related organizations requiring an in-depth knowledge of product management.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strategic acumen, expertise and creativity in the development of marketing materials.
  • Experience working with key internal teams and customers to define market needs and successfully bring new products to market.
  • Strong affinity for deeply understanding target audiences, customer needs, competitive landscape, and sales management processes.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and project management skills.  Excellent written, verbal, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various software programs. MS Project a plus.
  • Must be able to complete assignments within established timeframe.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
