Vice President / General Manager - South Deerfield

The Vice President/General Manager will provide leadership for the entire South Deerfield and Custom Case Center facilities.  Will meet or exceed customers’ expectations by delivering on-time, high quality Pelican Products and solutions. The Vice President/General Manager will create a world class lean operation that is focused on Pelican’s customers, and flexible enough to adapt to changing customer needs with collaboration among all discipline within the organization. Provides leadership and encourages change to improve on processes, quality, safety, cost, and efficiency throughout the entire South Deerfield and Custom Case Center facilities.  Encourages teamwork and collaboration while providing a positive work environment. Responsible for improving operational metrics/key performance indicators.


What You'll Do: 


  1. Oversees and manages all core site functions including Manufacturing, Engineering, Estimating/Quoting, Purchasing, Planning, Customer Service, Finance, Quality, Human Resources, and Health and Safety, for both South Deerfield and Custom Case Centers.
  2. Oversees direct and indirect staff at South Deerfield and Custom Case Centers and sets expectations, assigns accountability, and provides feedback, coaching, people development, and training as necessary. 
  3. Participates in the development and implementation of strategic plans.  Sets goals and priorities for the facilities, and assigns accountability and tracks performance.
  4. Sets facilities’ operation and performance metrics/key performance indicators that supports Pelican’s strategic plan. 
  5. Ensures management teams have a good understanding of Pelican’s strategic plan and business objectives.
  6. Responsible for improving and managing the successful execution and the profitable performances of core processes, including capital expenditures, annual budgeting, and performance to the fiscal plan.
  7. Develops lean strategies using lean principles to achieve year over year improvements in productivity, overall efficiencies, and cost reductions.
  8. Actively leads Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement. 
  9. Provides continuous and timely communication to ensure alignment of goals and objective throughout all levels of the organization. 
  10. Assesses each team member’s performance on an ongoing basis and through periodic and annual reviews, provides guidance and takes appropriate action to ensure the business goals are consistently met. 
  11. Travels frequently to all assigned facilities to communicate corporate goals, lead & motivate staff and drive continual improvement in all areas.
  12. Interfaces regularly with key internal constituents, i.e. Division Presidents, Functional Vice Presidents, and others.  Interfaces with key external resources/suppliers, customers, and core Dealers to gather feedback and review issues/opportunities. 
  13. Maintains a high degree of customer focus, encourages face-to-face relationship building to enhance the Customer Experience regarding on-time delivery, quality, cost, and customer service/satisfaction.
  14. Provides quarterly business updates to Senior Management.
  15. Provides leadership to drive employee engagement, and cohesiveness between the South Deerfield and Custom Case Center facilities. 
  16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Sr. Vice President of Worldwide Operations.



What You'll Need: 


  1. University Degree in related field or relevant experience with 10+ years of General Management in a multiple facility, mid to large size organization.  Master’s Degree in Business Administrations or advanced degree/certification preferred.
  2. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing operations and supply chain for low volume high mix and high volume low mix production environment, along with make-to-order and make-to-stock products. 
  3. Must demonstrate attention to detail, solid judgment, accomplish goals and champion ethical business practices at all times.
  4. Must demonstrate leadership skills and interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, with a demonstrated ability to bring together virtual teams and build consensus at all levels of the organization.
  5. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of lean manufacturing and lean principles.
  6. Must be a self-motivated, proactive, focused high-achiever who consistently delivers results and has the ability to make rapid adjustments in response to industry changes.
  7. Demonstrated success recruiting, building, developing, coaching and retaining a highly motivated, synchronized operations and administrative team with a sense of urgency and a drive to excel.
  8. Must have the ability to assess personnel requirements and organize, plan, staff and lead operations; must be able to translate company objectives into executable plans and effectively communicate and drive them.
  9. Must be fluent in English and have highly developed English writing and verbal presentation skills.
  10. Must have highly developed negotiation, analytical, math and organizational skills.
  11. Proficient in spreadsheet, word-process, project management and presentation software
  12. Proven track record of exceeding business objectives year over year and completing assignments within time frames established by the Sr. Vice President of Worldwide Operations.
  13. Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advance notice.
  14. Must be able to travel frequently.
  15. Position to be located in South Deerfield facility.
