OVERVIEW:

Performs a variety of shipping duties including: preparation of shipping documents for export and domestic shipments, contact with carriers for scheduling and rates, shipment status, expediting, and tracking; contact with dealers and internal departments; operation of computer systems and other similar duties to ship company’s products and materials.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Works from computer systems procedures, purchase orders, written and/or verbal instructions, established shipping procedures, methods, and practices. Operates material movement mechanical equipment such as forklift.
  • Assembles and packages orders for shipment according to specifications. Stages products for shipment in logical order to categorize freight. Counts, weighs, labels and ensures inclusion of packing slips. Loads vehicles using fork lift and other mechanical equipment as necessary. Unloads vehicles on occasion.
  • Operates internal computer system to determine order status, track shipment dates, etc.
  • Assists in inventory maintenance of materials, molds, and supplies and ensures safe and orderly storage of same. Submits inventory reports as required.
  • Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Follows prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision. Maintains work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Maintains daily production and other records as required.
  • Contacts carriers to schedule pick up times. Works with supervisor to obtain freight discounts and negotiate freight rates.
  • Prepares various shipping documents including export documents, packing lists, bills of lading, and other as appropriate. Maintains appropriate records and files.
  • Provides shipment and related information to requests, questions from dealers, customers, and internal departments.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High School Diploma  or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in shipping.
  • Must be certified to drive forklifts or pass certification exam during initial trial period.
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.

  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly  required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
