Tax Manager

The Tax Manager will oversee Pelican’s worldwide tax policies and objectives, manage the tax reporting, tax planning and compliance function to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax returns and work to minimize Pelican’s tax obligations. 


•    Prepare, review, and oversee all aspects of all U.S. federal and state taxation.
•    Prepare and review of quarterly and annual estimated tax payments and extension.
•    Prepare, review, and oversee ASC 740 tax provision compliance and reporting; including identification and reporting of unrecognized tax benefits associated with uncertain tax positions.
•    Lead internal work on ancillary taxes such as sales and use and franchise.
•    Respond and coordinate of any state and federal examination defense efforts. 
•    Assist with providing data for tax budgeting purposes.
•    Ensure timely and accurate filings.
•    Define domestic tax strategy in consultation with external professionals.
•    Review Pelican’s existing and new businesses to ensure compliance with tax rules and regulations and consider the most tax efficient approach to the businesses.
•    Monitor accuracy and completion of international tax returns that are required for local tax jurisdictions.
•    Monitor monthly results of Transfer Price and adjust pricing mechanism; update domestic study; coordinate local study as necessary.
•    Coordinate Value-Added Tax activities.
•    Review and coordinate responses to notices and audits.
•    Review and summarize financial data into spreadsheet applications for analysis and preparation of tax returns and consolidated tax provision.
•    Research and recommend new tax savings opportunities.
•    Discuss research, analysis, and conclusions with senior management.
•    Work collaboratively across departments ensuring proper tax policies are followed and tax software updated.
•    Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
•    Performs additional duties as assigned.

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or related field with a minimum of 6 years experience in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns and researching tax issues.
•    Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills, and be detail-oriented.
•    Must have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
•    Must have advanced Microsoft Excel experience. 


•    CPA highly desirable. 

•    Big 4 experience.
•    Consolidation experience as it pertains to tax positions and reporting. 
•    Experience with SAP or large ERP system.
