Overview:

 

The Mechanical Engineer leads initiatives for the support of repair of products, processes, materials, and equipment to meet Service area goals (i.e., safety, quality, delivery, and cost). In addition, they will improve conditioning process qualifications, overall work flows within service centers. Responsible for the transition of new product, service automation, and manufacturing and engineering projects into the operational and service environment, the role will include consideration of, but not limited to, cost reductions, product process instructions, new service equipment, and resolution of quality issues as and when required. Investigation of any manufacturing and design adjustments may also be required. Operates under minimal supervision with independent judgment. This position will also require some travel and to work cross functionally with external business partners (vendors) to ensure that all operations are meeting Peli BioThermal requirements. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Work cross functionally with Services, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Engineering to ensure product success.
  • Develop improved service automation and equipment to improve service throughput, quality and reduce capital and service costs
  • Develop and assist in implementation of new Conditioning Qualification methods and equipment for service centers
  • Successfully contribute to both new product development teams and product support, typically including the following activities: process capability studies, process development and value improvement projects, report preparation and process/test documentation.
  • Develop service Work Instructions’ for new products and new service processes
  • Train service center engineers on new Work Instructions’, procedures and processes and assist in training business partners when necessary
  • Provide design for service input into NPD projects
  • Perform troubleshooting on new and existing products/process problems as related to design, material, or processes.
  • Summarize, analyse, and draw conclusions from test results and report to the technical group.
  • Apply problem solving and process improvement methodologies to improve complex and diverse manufacturing processes, ensuring root cause of problem is identified and quickly resolved.
  • Prepare standard reports/documents to communicate results.
  • May lead cross-functional project teams. Train and/or provide work direction to operators/technicians
  • Provide ongoing process and technical support for services projects, equipment, and processes, including operations and quality capabilities, and cost estimates throughout projects.  This includes internal support, vendors, and/or clients
  • Scope and specify equipment, tooling, etc.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree  or equivalent specific experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing or field service environment
  • Good hands on mechanical aptitude and experience

 

Bonus Points For:

  • Background in technical Packaging, Clinical Trials, or Pharmaceutical Logistics desirable.
  • Thermal engineering background or previous experience is desired
