The Shipping Clerk duties include loading and unloading products from trucks or containers, wrapping and banding products, counting and maintaining accurate records, updating shipping and receiving paperwork, and organizing the warehouse.  Applies knowledge of domestic and international shipping guidelines regarding packing, loading, and transporting when performing duties.  Collaborates with production, supply chain, material handling and outside carriers to arrange and organize inbound and outbound areas; works closely with Material Control, Quality Assurance, Purchasing and Assembly departments to expedite rush and custom orders; and assists with physical inventories as needed.


What You’ll Do:

  • Completes shipping orders provided by Supervisor or Lead, reviews information on pick and pack lists, with attention to quantity and batch information.
  • Picks and packs inventory according to customer orders. Selects cartons and containers to use in shipping order considering order size and bulk. Wraps and Bands products for optimal protection and shipping transport.
  • Records weights and dimensions of products; enters pertinent data into the computer terminal or on paperwork or products.
  • Checks product for conformance to customer specifications and packs into shipping containers.
  • Loads product onto trucks and trailers for shipment.
  • Follows and performs daily 6S duties.
  • Assists Receiving and other departments on extraneous material movements and non-inventory shipments.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook, AWAIR and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent specific shipping experience.
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation and department procedures, such as picking and packing procedures, inventory procedures and cycle counting.
  • Must have math, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be qualified to operate electric pallet jack and forklifts, and able to pass assessment during initial probationary period.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by Supervisor or Lead.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP Experience.
  • Two or more year’s on-the-job experience in a warehouse or factory environment.
  • Domestic and International Shipping using ocean containers.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Experience.
  • Experience working in an ISO regulated work environment.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly  required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly  required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
