We currently have an opening for a Senior Buyer/Planner.


The Senior Buyer/Planner plans and coordinates production material needs with production supervisors/managers for specific or multiple product/parts to meet production schedules. Sources and purchases materials, equipment or supplies at the lowest cost while meeting quality, quantity and availability needs; also responsible for negotiating price and delivery standards for materials. This position does not include supervision of others in purchasing functions.


What You’ll Do:

  • Manages suppliers based on established criteria.
  • Leads the qualification efforts on perspective vendors based on documented processes and vendor surveys.
  • Ensures annual vendor meetings are established and executed with results and measurements demonstrated in vendor scorecard.
  • Evaluates quotations for quality, delivery, and cost considerations.
  • Negotiates price, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure proper cost management.
  • Understands demand requirements, reacts decisively to resolve supply chain constraints, and implements action plans with operational leadership.
  • Uses ERP system to maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Tracks inbound freight costs ensuring market price is being applied.
  • Under guidance from the Director of Operations, manages the extended value stream with assigned suppliers and identifies ways to reduce lead time.
  • Administers vendor onsite audits and certification programs in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with Engineering to ensure the suppliers and their products meet documented specifications.
  • Builds relationships with suppliers that encourage vendor investment into Peli BioThermal’s growth.
  • Optimizes supply base to achieve appropriate level of alternative sourcing for risk management.
  • Initiates and supports the resolution of supplier shortages and quality issues with quality control.
  • Supports the resolution of accounting discrepancies and issues with Finance.
  • Ensures inventory dollars are reconciled with financial system.
  • Participates in the ERP Implementation team.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in Handbook and follow guidelines regarding safety as outline in the AWAIR, and other safety procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need:

  • Requires equivalent to Bachelor’s degree, plus relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills for resolving issues with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software.
  • Experience working with QuickBooks.
  • Experience working with an ERP System.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commodities, manufacturing methods, market conditions and source of supply.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
