The Demand Planner acts as a key role within the S&OP process and drives alignment with cross-functional partners such as sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing, and procurement in order to achieve world class forecast accuracy. Manages communication of demand while working with marketing and sales in understanding forecasting implications of activities and events, works with the materials team in supporting long term forecasts, and plays a key role in developing and executing the strategic direction for objectives in forecast accuracy and bias.


What You’ll Do:

  • Creates and maintains the demand plan monthly and ensures business plan process is in place.
  • Analyzes data from Sales and S&OP leaders to develop Make-to-Forecast/Make-to-Order guidelines for each S&OP group. Develops and monitors implementation of demand shaping action plans.
  • Participates with S&OP Teams as a subject expert to present and answer questions regarding the constrained forecast, key information regarding future demand, and key performance indicators (e.g., forecast accuracy).
  • Implements and supports the demand management process using the closed loop process control.  Ensures actions and decisions are consistent with demand planning fundamentals.
  • Provides analytical support and forecast data to S&OP teams and makes recommendations on contract terms regarding demand patterns.
  • Implements and manages reactive and proactive demand management KPI's.
  • Creates, fosters, and maintains close working relationship with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Finance, Product Management to ensure alignment on Strategy, Goals, Objectives, and KPIs.
  • Leads business's month Demand Management review meeting with Sales and Marketing to ensure relevant information is communicated cross-functionally.
  • Actively supports Pelican’s commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering
  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to work within and help build teams while managing employees to achieve higher results.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and accomplish business KPI's.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and SAP
  • Experience managing in a global business environment across operations, sales and marketing.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement.
