Overview:

 

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring Peli BioThermal products, services, and quality system processes are of the highest quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability.  The role represents Quality in product development, manufacturing engineering, product conformity investigation, and other Engineering initiatives within the business. Establishes and maintains design control, process validation, production controls, and support in supplier management processes, procedures, and methods including, but not limited to: FMEA, IQ, OQ, PQ, Control Plans, Validation Master Plans.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Participates as the Quality representative and independent reviewer throughout new product development and continuation engineering project activities such as risk analysis and management, design and stage-gate reviews, verification/validation planning, execution, review, and product release.
  • Supports and manages product investigation as part of nonconformances and CAPA externally and internally
  • Acts as a conduit between Engineering/Technical teams to ensure quality conformance regarding product purchase specification, product sales specification, and product manufacturing specifications. 
  • Supports Laboratory Manager and technical team to ensure the thermal testing laboratory retains ISO 17025 and other accreditations
  • Ensures suppliers adhere to performance criteria, facilitating timely resolution of supplier failures, corrective actions, and preventive actions
  • Leads, guides, and supports continuous improvement efforts including Kaizen, 6S, and other types of lean initiatives
  • Analyzes production failures, process deviations, and customer complaints for trends and root causes

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Technical, Mechanical, Materials, or Packaging preferred), and two or more years of related experience
  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineering background
  • Certification in Quality Engineering, Quality Management, 6-sigma, lean, or related areas is highly desirable
  • Project management skills are highly desirable.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Quality Engineering, preferably in an ISO 9001 certified environment or life-science regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biologics, or medical device).
  • Must be familiar with engineering and manufacturing documentation, such as Bills of Material (BOM’s).
  • Must be proficient in the use of quality and statistical analysis software
  • Experience working with Quality Management, Electronic Document Management, Product Data Management (PDM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

Bonus Points For:

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, and other business applications
  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineering background
  • Knowledge of the Cold Chain industry including knowledge of phase change materials, vacuum insulated panels, plastics, and packaging materials is also preferred
  • Good Knowledge and experience of SAP or similar ERP desired
  • Project management skills are highly desirable
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set timeframes.
