Purchasing Manager

 

Overview:

 

The Purchasing Manager reports to the Director of Worldwide Supply Chain.  The main accountabilities of this position are outlined below. In addition to these The Purchasing Manager will be required to undertake specific projects as required by the Director of Worldwide Supply Chain.  The Purchasing Manager is expected to exhibit the behaviors and standards inherent within Peli BioThermal and to act as a role model for all staff.

What You’ll Do:

  • Running daily component schedule reports and raising purchase orders as required for raw materials, consumables, and spare parts.
  • Raising purchase specifications and creating new purchase part numbers on ERP system.
  • Working closely with the New Product Development team, Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical teams identifying potential new suppliers and sourcing new materials/products.
  • Perform analysis and take action to reduce Slow Moving Stock, Stock Value and improve stock turns.
  • Identify, assess, and initiate cost reduction opportunities together with Operations, Product Development, Quality and Finance Managers and co-ordinate reporting of same.
  • Negotiating contracts. Monitor Supplier costs, levels of performance, service level agreement and quality through regular reviews using KPIs develop corrective actions as required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to develop robust supply chains.
  • Monitor stock levels and forecasting liaising closely with Sales and Production to maximize business efficiency.
  • Checking and signing off purchase orders and supplier invoices within the limits determined by the business.
  • Assist in resolving any quality, delivery, or service issues within the supply chain, ensuring preventative measures are put in place.
  • Managing and completing business improvement logs (complaints management supplier/customer) as and when required.
  • Raising and completing any change note actions relating to the Purchasing Department and implement as and when required.
  • Work with continuous improvement teams to improve purchasing techniques to improve department performance and processes and drive down purchasing costs.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and negotiation skills.  Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set timeframes.
  • 5 years + experience in Buying / Purchasing raw materials within a manufacturing/ engineering environment
  • CIPS qualification minimum Level 3
  • Must be able to interact effectively with, suppliers, customers, and employees at all levels. Experience of dealing with international suppliers.

 

  • Experience in manufacturing, (preferably pharmaceutical) logistics or similar fast-paced, high demanding industry
  • High level of IT literacy, including strong excel skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications and work well with the engineering department.
  • Must have the capacity to resolve differences regarding supplier costs, quality, deliveries, and payments, as well as the ability to drive, implement and re-define ‘cost down’ strategies
  • Good Knowledge and experience of EFACS, SAP or similar ERP system desired.
  • Availability to travel as necessary.
