Production Planner

 

Overview:

 

Issues and maintains the factory's long- and short-term production plan to always meet the sales requirements and budgets. Assists with New Product Introduction in preparing accurate quotes with respect to Value-Add labour costs and lead times. Assists with first order reviews; documents review records and files as appropriate. Continuously improves and develops the systems and procedures in support of process improvements and elimination of waste.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Issues and maintains the factory's long- and short-term production plan to always meet the sales requirements and budgets.
  • Issues and firms the corresponding production orders and maintains the start and finished dates up to date at all times.
  • Prepares reporting for and assists in regular Project Review/Production meetings, promised Production Lead Times and monthly sales targets are being met. Informs Purchasing Manager of any discrepancies/issues/delays.
  • On a daily basis, reviews component shortages and takes any necessary corrective actions. Processes Stock Transfers for components and issues components to production floor.
  • Issues paperwork for production orders and handover to production supervisors (Route Cards & Drawings). Production set up and instructs material handlers the issue of components to the production floor.
  • Assists with Project Management in preparing accurate quotes with respect to Value-Add labor costs and lead times.
  • Assists with formal contract review; documents review records and files as appropriate.
  • Reviews Weekly Shop Floor Opportunity list for Large Order Quantities.
  • Actively supports Peli’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Performs other duties and works on special projects as required or assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Good Knowledge and experience of SAP within Supply Chain Planning, Production planning and purchasing or similar ERP system.
  • Ideally educated to HND level in a business or engineering discipline.
  • 2 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set timeframes.
  • Must be resilient and tenacious.
  • Must have excellent oral, written, negotiation and presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with other employees at all levels.
  • This position requires the ability to be Self-motivated and assertive.
  • Must be proficient with Word, Excel and other IT software.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
