We currently have an opening for a Maintenance Technician I - 2nd Shift (Monday-Thursday 3:00 pm - 1:30 am) based at our site in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, paint, and carpentry work on buildings, furniture, equipment, machines, and grounds.  Maintenance Technician performs repairs and preventive maintenance on furniture, equipment, machinery, appliances, and air conditioning systems; troubleshoots and disassembles, cleans, and replaces damaged or worn parts on equipment, machinery, and appliances.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Performs plumbing, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, paint, and carpentry work on buildings, furniture, equipment, machines, and grounds.
  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on furniture, equipment, machinery, appliances, and air conditioning systems.
  • Removes snow from sidewalks and entrances.
  • Coordinates safety and facility work with Supply Chain and Production staff.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and replaces damaged or worn parts on equipment, machinery, and appliances.
  • Construction/building skills including, wood and metal framing, installation of drywall, plaster and working with suspended ceilings.
  • Changes light bulbs, filters, and performs preventative and restorative maintenance.
  • Moves office equipment and furniture as necessary.
  • Performs janitorial duties when necessary and acts as a back-up for janitorial staff.
  • Assists with designing and fabricating jigs and fixtures for use in production.
  • Follows safety guidelines including Personal Protective Equipment and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Actively supports Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Basic knowledge in at least two areas of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatic and/or painting required.
  • Basic knowledge of production equipment maintenance, repair and troubleshooting techniques helpful.
  • Building skills with wood and metal framing, including the installation of drywall, plaster, and suspended ceilings.
  • Must have ability to learn to set-up and operate machine tools such as circular and band saws, hand drills, drill presses, paint guns, and welding torches.
  • Must have basic ability to diagnose equipment maintenance and repair needs and apply troubleshooting procedures.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by Management.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Second shift duty will be required.
  • Willing to work in a very dynamic cultural environment and be a team player.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating a forklift and scissor lift preferred. Is willing and able to certify in forklift and scissor lift operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
