SUMMARY

Develops customized engineering solutions according to customer’s requirements, provides accurate quotes and technical support regarding internal cushioning and logistics solutions in accordance with customer’s specifications; compiles technical information, prepares drawings/schematics and other similar duties for a variety of packaging and equipment products with use of CAD software, working simultaneously on multiple projects and travelling to customer and production sites as required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts various design projects; creates technical solutions and recommends improvements to logistic solutions including foam liners, hardware configuration and other specialized packaging requirements.
  • Assists in the design and design changes of new or current product systems and equipment as required by customers.
  • Develops specification lists, bills of materials for standard and custom products, and makes revisions to meet customer requirements as necessary.
  • Assists in implementing various product line enhancements, solving technical problems as well as verifying accuracy and completeness of drawings.
  • Works directly with customers to obtain clarification of special requirements/specifications in order to establish optimal engineering solutions in terms of Quality, Cost and Delivery.
  • Estimates material and production costs and prepares quotes for customers according to their requirements/specifications.
  • Works in tight collaboration with other departments such as Customer Service, Sales and Production, in order to resolve customer requirements.
  • Oversees the testing of existing products, prototyping of new designs and any modifications. Implements and oversees site visits and testing schedules as necessary.
  • Maintains CAD drawings and other documents and files as required. Updates changes on on-going projects.
  • Assists in making suggestions/recommendations regarding manufacturing methods as appropriate.
  • Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, questionable conditions and areas for improvement to appropriate manager.
  • Actively supports Peli’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS                                          

  • University degree in Engineering (mechanical, industrial, design, etc.) with minimum 1-year experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English is required. Any other European language would be a benefit.
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solidedge preferred), as well as general computer knowledge (MS Office, etc.). Knowledge of SAP a benefit.
  • Good knowledge of different materials, engineering processes and manufacturing techniques. Ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of Peli-Hardigg products.
  • Experience in costing and in the preparation and revision of quotes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (oral and written). This position requires the ability to provide excellent technical customer service and build positive customer relationships.

  • Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.
  • Must speak English and have a German level of B2 or higher.
