SUMMARY

Based in Barcelona’s Headquarters with regular travelling to our production site in Germany, the Cost Accountant performs the monthly review of standard costing, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and monthly closing and preparation of the consolidated financial statements. The Cost Accountant will also assist with the completion of government reports and provide information for quarterly reviews and annual financial audit in a multinational corporate environment, which may involve managing items beyond Germany.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead inventory cycle count compliance and ABC count compliance for internal and 3rd party locations (if any).
  2. Perform internal audit over inventory cycle counts process. Same for Wall-to-wall inventory count if ever needed.
  3. Act as Operations liaison and identify and manage any finance risks.
  4. Liaise with FP&A for the reporting of global costs of goods sold.
  5. Responsible for inventory reconciliation by location and inventory reserve analysis for EMEA slow moving, excess, and obsolete inventory.
  6. Liaise with FP&A monitoring facility assets, Capex projects, Internal Orders control.
  7. Assist with monthly closing, including preparing and inputting journal entries
  8. Conduct variance analysis on general ledger accounts and identify and resolve discrepancies.
  9. Prepare quarterly (for corrections) and annual re-roll of standard costs, review and compare actual cost to standard cost, analyze data and prepare purchase price variance analysis and journals.
  10. Prepare quarterly and year-end audit schedules and lead all inventory related audit inquiries.
  11. Assist in responding to government reports and prepare supporting schedules.
  12. Actively support Pelican’s quality and safety objectives and contribute to quality and safety management system activities as assigned.
  13.  Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.

 

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  2. Must have 6+ years’ experience in general cost accounting and at least 4 in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Must have in-depth knowledge of Accounting Principles and procedures in DEGAAP, having knowledge in USGAAP an advantage.
  4. Must have excellent English language skills, having German and/or Czech language knowledge is an advantage.
  5. Multinational experience in an industrial/operations environment preferred.
  6. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  7. Must have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  8. Must be proficient with Excel; experience with SAP or large ERP system preferred.
  9. Previous experience or exposure to Bill of Materials utilizing an MRP platform preferred.
  10. Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified.
  11. Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  12. Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  13. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
